Lil Devious
You Control Me
Gung-Ho!

I’ve been lucky to have a CDR of this wonderful New Order-like parody since the start of the year, and thankfully the shrewd Gung Ho team have seen fit to pick this up and run with it. The one thing about Carlisle’s Lil Devious is you never know quite what you’re gonna get – be it funky disco pastiches, Latin-infused tracks to fuel South Beach pool parties or even techno-etched cuts with strings wound tighter then anything Derrick May ever fiddled. But ‘You Control Me’ is none of the above – more a homage to new romantic’s post-modernist punks of the early ’80s with ex-Japan bassist Mick Karn on hand to offer support to Mark Baker too-cool-for-school vocal. Add re-stylings from Greg Churchill and Groove Invaders and this one’ set to go the distance.
