Lorenzo Chiabotti – ‘Adnur EP’ – (Moscow Records)

First up on the new vinyl release series from Moscow Records is Italian-born Berliner, Lorenzo Chiabotti. Before now, Lorenzo has proved a mainstay of Luc Ringeisen’s Vinyl Club Recordings, playing regularly at Club der Visionaere, Katerholzig and Arena, as well as managing a busy international schedule. His three new cuts get one remix by Archie Hamilton to great effect. Up first is the electro skip of L’Appeso, which is a nicely silvery and slithering cut with a fat bit of wiggling bass, crisp snares and tons of groove. Adnur is then another bobbling house cut made from lots of loose drums and hits and shooting synths. Its supple and sublime and is the sort of thing Villalobos would drop to devastating effect. Cursor is another sexy bit of moody, deep electro with fine drum work and lots of off kilter but soulful vibes. The remix from Hamilton is also a fine thing: minimal and creepy, organic sounding and micro evolving its a real late night delight. This is a fine EP from a fine label.
