Low Steppa – So Real EP

The So Real EP is the latest release from Low Steppa’s recently established Simma Black imprint. Coming straight out of Birmingham, the label stands for banging but appealing crossover house music, a sound that the producer himself is extremely well versed in. And what a sumptuous and appealing offering he serves up here. It’s downright effective for that matter too. On the original for example, there’s a cosmic sheen, a series of swelling synths and a delightful vocal snippets that all work wonders when paired together. Catchy and full of flair, this is as likely to get a rinsing in the retail confines of River Island as it is on a clued-in dancefloor. Either way, it’s sure to force an impression. Next up is the ‘Club Mix’, which is another one of those efforts you’re sure you’ll have already encountered elsewhere. Full of the sort of panache that usually appeals to the likes of Radio 1 and their listeners, this one’s practically sure to get a rewind on a Friday night. Lastly, Low Steppa’s other original, The Panel, takes over. Just as nimble and emotive as what’s arrived before, it too is a track of buoyant qualities. Overall, this is a brilliant effort.
