Drum Ride is an exciting new label started by Melbourne radio DJ-producer Luke with the simple mission of setting fire to the underpants. This third release sees him mining a contagious seam of no-nonsense tech-flavoured house pebble-dashed with bongos, lashed with Detroit stabs and blessed with a haunting organ undulating over the upper reaches. The track boasts a lovely vibe and sense of space which makes the deft release of electronic bats all the more effective. The remix comes from New Zealand’s fast-rising DJ-producer Tim Richards who builds a melodic skyscraper of soaring strings and pads over the contagious groove which he periodically hotwires with clattering drum-bursts [which remind me of the theme to NYPD Blue]. Builds to a glorious climax which, all told, will certainly do the trick and represents some of the best stuff yet to filter up from Down Under.
