Silicone Soul’s formidably-gripping Soma offshoot always guarantees something unexpected and basement shaking. The boys got their name from when they were hauled in last year in the midst of anti-terrorism paranoia – their mix of Asian and white strains got them classed M3. Their music could be wrought from pent-up frustration after a night in the cells with the title track coming in on what sounds like an old Sparks riff before exploding into a gripping mix of pulsing energy, majestic electro deepness and an ever-building sense of melody. This carries on through ‘Tumbleweed’, which adds rock guitar touches over the Glitter Band groove, and ‘New York’ with its deep, swelling chords and rippling electro synths. Creativity runs riot in the riffs and melody departments. This is hot.
