If stripped down techno flicks all your switches then get ready to be lit up like Regent Street at Christmas time. Matt Sassari delivers a three track EP for Bouq that is determined, adventurous and extremely satisfying. ‘Montarjan’ strides out like the Devil in Prada – drawing admiring glances and shutting down overlong stares with the whisk of its tail and a flutter of its eyelashes. ‘Bruyt’ is playful in a dark, twisted way with wobbly, fairground mirror keys, low vocals and whipcrack effects underpinning the arrangement so it rocks but doesn’t overturn. ‘Prium’ closes the triangle with more low vocals, wobbling jelly subs and a petulant stomping beat that makes a toddler’s ‘Terrible Two’ phase seem like a walk in the park. Spirited techno music for discerning ears.
