Unblemished soul aacousticsounding like Jack White in one of his calmer phases, ‘Passer By’ doesn’t hotfoot towards the X factor of either ‘11.30’ or ‘Big City Life’. From the outset, this is more safety-by-numbers, but you shouldn’t count Mattafix out after their previous, surprise success, particularly with the crispness and folk-shaded affection emitted from this potential winter warmer.
