Metrophonique – Blue Moon EP (Cat for Lunch)

Metrophonique is an Italian duo that run the brilliantly titled Cat For Lunch label, an imprint that tends to  veer towards the classier side of the tech house spectrum. Their latest sees them return to their home label for another EP that emphasises their credentials with some panache. Entitled the Blue Moon EP, it sees the boys perk up with 3 originals, each one as intriguing and buoyant as the next. The title-track is a case in point. The sort of tech house fodder that’d delight names such as Dice and Carola, it’s a veritable display of the better side of the genre thanks to its melodic mannerisms and its many sprightly ways. Filled to the brim with tension and clever drums, you can’t help but be captivated by its many clued-in sounds. Next up we have ‘’Ramblers’’, which is an edgier, even more hypnotic track. Weird and a little bit oddball in structure, it’s nonetheless a dubby delight that gets under your skin in all the right ways. ‘’Loving You’’, however, is the grooviest of the litter thanks to its unashamed big-room baseline. Even so, it’s a sun-kissed track that’s sure to put a smile on the face of anyway who encountered it.
