eMBI Music Limited turns to Michael Clifford for its next EP, and in return the Italian producer cooks up some seductive deep house that also gets remixed to perfection by Marco Cassanelli and Daniele Casa. Clifford is a well versed DJ and producer with ties to labels like Nero Nero but here comes uptrumps with some of his best work yet. Opener Deepology is just that, a truly deep house cut with lovely chords that are genuinely musical all draped over soft, rubbery drums. Pads rain down like drops in lava lamp and the whole thing is thoroughly soothing. The Marco remix of it is a subtle one thats strips things back to an ever deeper, headier bit of rolling dub house. Tripping Versus Nowhere is then the other original and is another smooth, seductive cut with hunched over drums that really suck you in and plenty of horizontal chords that are watery and liquid. Daniele Casa remixes with a sympathetic hand and layers in some more drama based drama, spoken word snippets and deep space signifiers. Overall, a proper deep EP.
