Miami based DJ Jordan Pastrel delivers his first EP for Get Physical. The title track ‘Moonset’ is a percolating tech house affair in possession of a persistent bass line, all manner of reverbed, clanging synths and effects and an aural phreatic eruption of tiny tacks, nails, screws and ticking clock mechanisms, the ebb and flow of which is then controlled, swirled and moved into wave form patterns by its magnetic core. ‘Shit Talk’ is a shit-kicking, hard stomping, mumbling opus which seems to riff on the whistle from ‘West Side Story’ and the old ‘Mission Impossible’ theme just for shits and giggles. Moonset ? It’ll keep you alert through the early hours make no mistake.
