What a joy it must be to remix a New Order record. Somehow over the years the sheer weight of their songs have lent Bernard Sumner’s voice a cultural benchmark, instantly giving everything he sings real depth and the power to evoke a plethora of clubbing moments. Planet Funk have risen to the task brilliantly with two concisely executed peak room club mixes. The full vocal mix rinses a bell like synth riff for maximum euphoria – think Orbital with spanking 2005 production. The dub is far more proggy, though no less full a club groove. The euphoria of the vocal mix is dropped for a moody bass attack with a simply superb shift smack in the middle of the tune. We have been playing them both and this one excels for early morning angular moments where it’s intelligent subtle production shines through.
