And before you have even caught your breath after The Repopulation EP, here’s a triple salvo from Patrick Topping on Lee Foss’s hot as chipotle Repopulate Mars label. ‘Baddie’ is a frenetic, psychotic mix up of warped and wonky synth sounds, a hard jacking beat, purrs, clicks, chants, whirrs and squeals. It could almost be cats excited at catching birds. Or it could just be a nutter’s day out. Whatever – it’ll twist your tech house set perfectly – you’ll know when the time is right. ‘Majestic’ sends lightning bolts in surges across electric powerlines and pylons and grounds it all with an old skool classic house bass line, bright keys and eerie strings. And since the best things come in threes, ‘Captivate’ is a laugh a minute – chunky jacking beats, a sampled laugh and enough twitchy percussive paranoia to make a dancefloor like a rubber room. They’ll be bouncing off the walls to this groove.
