Audiofly’s new label maintains its momentum with a strong package from Sheffield’s Pedram Mehrshahi. ‘Burka’ rides a woodblock-spattered rhythm driven by low-key hypno-tech keys and Basic Channel-Detroit stabs. Alex Niggermann lowers it into further deepness with scuttling groove, bison-bollocks bass and effective tinkles before Men In Trees up the mood with extra weight in the percussion department. Bonus track ‘Hotspot’ is a gorgeously-subtle outing, planting marimba tones and ghostly melodic shards over its mutedly-contagious canter.
