Marlon D continue to go from strength-to-strength with this quality offering added and abetted by fellow remixer George Mena. Their update of a track that first appeared back in 1995 combines a hip-grinding melody, deep and funky bassline, bouncing energy through the breaks to build into a mid-set monster. A decade and some on, ‘The Lover That You Are’ still makes all the right moves with original vocalist Antoinette Roberson’s seductive wordology now fused with an equally lusciously laced strings ‘n’ keys affair across a half dozen versions.
