Rennie Foster – RF Remixed – (RF Trax)

Canadian artist Rennie Foster here launches a brand new label called RF Trax. The first release is about bringing together all his crew and so he asks them to remix a bunch of his tracks. Mark Archer, Sean Deason, Butane and Claude Young all step up to the plate. Good Time Charlie is first and is remixed by Claude Young. In his hands the track is a subtly spiritual and uplifting bit of techno with emotive piano chords, lots of fine synths and a dark energy that really sucks you in. New Yorks Butane goes for a rock solid, drum led groove with trippy vocals and dry hi hats that all make for physical, no messing listening. Then Sean Deason cooks up a slick and sick broken beat jam with acid lines, rubbery drums, kinetic percussive lines and lots of rude boy ideals. Last but not least, former 808 State hero Mark Archer from the UK opts for something much more feel good and happy with his chord laced, uplifting and soulful house version of Grass Roots. This is a fine way to kick start the label and really offers something for everyone.
