The perfect accompaniment to ‘We Don’t Speak Americano’ comes from the most talked about remixer of the year; although on a production tip it’s a million miles removed from his usual tech-etched house recreations. Stefano Miele, aka Riva Starr, has made quite a name for himself in the last twelve months with essential restylings for Lake & Lys, Estelle, Usher, Plan B and of course his rather large Dennis Ferrer-meets-Donna Summer mix. But as an artist ‘I Was Drunk’ with it’s dated accordion a la Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup and its catchy “yesterday I was drunk with some chicks I don’t remember who came back with me” chorus makes this the perfect sing-a-long anthem that will appeal to the Yates Wine Lodge knees up crowd as much as those watching the sunset on the Terrace at Space. New versions come from Tocadisco, Spiller and DJ Sneak but it’s the original that’s making all the right noises.
