Rob Cockerton – Groovement EP – (Snatch!)

Next up on Riva Starr’s Snatch! imprint is Saved Records stalwart, Rob Cockerton’s glorious ‘Groovement EP’. It’s like a homage to the halcyon days of house music from 1987 – 1992 in 2015’s bejewelled digital production new clothes. With its reverbed vocal snippets, ‘Groovement’ is a Strictly Rhythm infused groove-athon that requires a towel and a change of clothing.

Throwback to the early days a la George Morel. ‘Religion’ is a tech house percussive tumbler with a synth break that’ll make you want to rewind it and come again each time you play it. And finally, ‘Old’s Cool’ bounces on a reverbed bass, reminiscent of Larry Heard / Mr Fingers / Fingers Inc / Trax and the true house sound of Chicago. Three phat and firing tracks and another super EP from Rob Cockerton and Snatch!.
