Fast becoming a king of the killer groove, Ronnie Spiteri is blazing a trail through nu garage and house with his productions of late and this is no exception. The 8 Ball EP houses two tracks of bouncy, skippy nu garage that do not disappoint. ‘B Ball’ tips (not doffs) its hat to all things Strictly Rhythm / Henry Street / Nitegrooves and even Hard Times and Narcotic (am sure that’s the Roger Sanchez ‘Baaaaaa’ in there) and yet spritzes it up with some shiny MMXV effects laden digitalia. On the flipside, ‘Deep Deeper’ swells and cuts a swathe through his darker, techier instrumental undergrowth. Steady.
