Four Twenty

‘What the fuck is juice?’ asks the sample as the San Francisco-based producer first known as half of Iz & Diz lets fly with a huge pair of rectum-rattling house-bumpers. It’s of little surprise that this guy cut his teeth with Derrick Carter’s Red Nail crew, subtly tapping into classic house elements, knowing how to stoke floor-busting tension and also injecting a degree of wigged-out sleaze. ‘Juice’ is a string bass-laced belter, also remixed by DJ Tool, homing in on the bass. ‘Shiz’ actually tops it, a sublime slow-building groover topped with strings and subtle touches like the insect testicle-tapping percussion. Fabulous record [and Denver-based Bananza is one of the US labels doing it properly right now – wait until you hear what’s next].
