Seth Troxler – DJ Kicks – (!K7)

Select any number of column inches and they will tell you one side of Seth Troxler but to reveal the full picture then this version of DJ Kicks does so, and does so in some depth. If you can get past the sheer emotional intensity of the opening couple of numbers including the guitar strummed ballad from Niki Nakazawa ‘Should It Be’ (forthcoming on his Soft Touch imprint) and the wistful piano beauty of Herbert’s ‘Suddenly’ (Phil Parnell’s Pianissimo Play Through) then what follows will also leave you suitably breathless. Perhaps not surprisingly that ranges from Detroit styled Techno straight through to the more soulful sounds of Kerri Chandler, while ending with the spaced-out sounds of Sun Ra And His Intergalactic Research Arkestra. Never a dull moment as they say but then would have expected anything other on this organically charged mix from one of the world’s most telling DJ’s?
