Son Of Sound is Henry Maldonado, a name probably familiar to those who check those established US labels like MAW, King St, Maxi, Jellybean, eetc. Thissees the launch of his own production and label, firmly rooted in the ever expanding electro-disco side of the dancefloor. There’s a slight twist of Prince to the lyrics and hip-grinding groove (assuming the short-one had been recording Italian disco in the early 80’s, of course), building up expertly to the washes of synths unleashed in the latter half of the track. Steve (Chicken Lips) Kotey gets to grips with it on the flip and gives it that slo-mo 3am punch-drunk punk-funk vibe, adding live drums and spacey guitars to the sparse bass sounds. Perfect record for when you want to take things that bit deeper.
