Sir Piers’ remix skills have become more and more prevalent in recent months – the man who once paid homage to the musical styles of MAW is fast changing his sounds to become more accessible. And the effort is proving a very worthwhile exercise with a plethora of mixes to his name already this year including soulful house rubs of Big Brovaz, Jill Scott and even Lionel Ritchie’s ‘All Night Long’. That latter formula is applied to MJ’s chunky number, circa ‘Off The Wall’, that’s subtly updated whilst retaining much of the original’s feel – Nathan Haines’ weaving sax and flute flurries only add to the overall excitement. Old skool mash-ups made with love.
