Teenage Mutants demonstrate once more why their production star is very much in the ascendant with this double header EP ‘Magic Anthem’. From the first notes to the last, ‘Magic’ is drenched with disco sunshine: I hear Jimmy Bo Horne’s ‘Spank’ samples in there but that’s just the incorrigible trainspotter in me at play. It’s a great terrace / warm up track with a bassline groove that’s lazier than a 16 year old on benefits. ‘Anthem’ is your afterhours steroid boost with its pulsating rhythms, warm, shining vibes, phat synth pads, billowing brass and haunting vocal. Both are great club tracks for different reasons and occasions so your money will be well spent should you choose to invest. Good music with no trickery involved.
