Dave Lee’s live ensemble deliver yet another essential EP that cleverly bridges both the musical and generation divide. On ‘Survivin” they’ve enlisted the original ’80s boogie Godfather, Leroy Burgess (of Universal Robot Band, Logg, and Fantastic Aleems fame) to add his unique stylings to the retroactive disco offering. It’s as timeless sounding as it is polished in production, while Lee’s Joey Negro alter ego further seals the deal with a trio of contemporary remixes. And there’s more as IG Culture lets rip on the broken beater ‘Turn It Out’ and Dianne Charlemagne adds her considerable verve to the 2-steppin’ ‘Moving With The Shakers’.
