Following the chaos-inducing shipping forecast mashup of ‘Rockall’ and trailering their much-anticipated debut album, the Punx have gone for the jugular on the latest in their relentless procession of dancefloor destroyers. Their original was already a massive wall of typically-incendiary riffage, cheeky heists and melodies backing an elaborate web of vocal bites ranging from the main disco hook to Jamaican sound system hollers. Norman Cook is such a big fan he offered to do a mix for free and, surprisingly, turns in the more subtle of the two, sampling Manu Chao’s ‘Bongo Bong’ for the percussive roll and playing with the voices to stoke the tension, building a web of sound which he’s bound to be using as a weapon of mass destruction when he plays out next. [Interesting it’s under his own name]. Further mixes come from Soul Seekerz, Dopeheadz [nice filth-house dub] and T.Y.P. Fembot. Here’s another shipping forecast: this is going to blow a few boats out of the water this summer.
