They say good things happen in threes – so here is your third tasty installment from Amine Edge’s CUFF Recordings imprint. Thee Cool Cats ‘Mossberg Pump EP’ goes that extra mile to help them continue their reign as fine, french purveyors of throbbing, sleazy bass house. Hovering in the long shadows, twisting the minor chords, gating the pads and compressing the sound so that it feels like a magician trying to work his way out of a padlocked strait jacket. You get four tracks – the jolliest of which are ‘Hand On the Pump’ with its depth charged effects and swag spoken lyrics and ‘Ass On Fire’ with its shiny metallic trumpet loop. Vacate is a soaring, jump up, lose your shirt and sweat to this affair. Vibe is a dark, jack track with distorted acidic bassline and synth pads that jab you in the ribs just about the solar plexus. Another great EP from a new label that is racking the quality releases up and out.
