Tom Demac – Linda’s Theme EP – Aus Music

The intro to ‘Linda’s Theme’ sounds slightly muzzy, possibly recorded in a pillow factory, played out on vinyl with fluff on the needle or once the synths and effects kick in you might even think it was created in a padded cell. Add the quirky vocal drop à la Velvet Underground / Nico meets Patti Smith and you’ve got the dancefloor vibe right there. It’s the perfect accompaniment to getting decadently wasted. Check out the clicky and statically charged, foundry forged, booming beats on – ‘Days With Poly’ – another favourite for club play that sweetens with swirling pads with a sensual whisp of a bouncing bluesy / jazz vocal swirling around it for good measure. Vocoder’s Revenge is a metal against wood; barn-doors-flapping-in-a-tornado cut that will work best in those nasty afterhours clubs where it’s all about the red eye correction the day after. If these three tracks were written for Linda, then she is a bloody lucky woman, that’s all I can say.
