Holic Trax sees these three house music lynchpins collaborate for an EP of deftly varied grooves, with Tuccilo creating all four tracks and the other two joining him on two each. The Djebali hook ups are very down the middle house music, unfussy well crafted rump shakers that make focus on skipping percussion on ‘Atuler’ and a heads down shuffle on ‘1st Floor’. It’s certainly not reinventing the wheel but the trusty reliability and sophistication will ensure it finds favour with swaggering house DJs across the summer.
John Dimas’ work with Tucillo brings out a more experimental vibe, at least on the Tomoki Tamura Edit of ‘ive 23’ which is all brooding Detroit stabs and chords. ‘A View From’ is a bit more obvious in a menacing and dark way, but the four tracks together are a natty package that just exudes strength in numbers.
