Various Artists – Repopulation EP – (Repopulate Mars)

Lee Foss fires the starting pistol for his ‘Repopulate Mars’ label with a multi artist, triple-header entitled the ‘Repopulation EP’. First out of the blocks is 4th Measure Men (those of the seminal MK and Sonny fodera with ‘Don’tTouch Me When I’m Dancing’ a hulking slab of spoken vocalled, dancefloor sleaze. The bassline trips, the 808s crack and splash, it’s so deep that there’s space enough to scuba dive and it’s a dancer’s dream. Synth pads rave it harder than a superclub full of smiley t-shirted podium dancers. Hell, even the old folk will love it. Eskuche & Nu Sky’s ‘Ninety-nine’ is a wonky bassline blazer with a beat as brittle as splintering bones. Then to close, Flavio Acaron’s ‘Matters Of The Soul’ is a click and whipcrack high stakes roller with an acidic bite and a rich, dark caramel centre. It’s all good fun. And then some.
