When many operations seem to be going digital and boring there has to be a clap of thunder and hearty round of applause for anyone daring to launch a New Vinyl Label but Manchester DJ-producer Louis Hughes is taking the plunge to give his new underground house label the only real format it needs. The needle drops and out of the speakers will boom the trippy, booting shimmer of ‘Set Tripper’ by Oakland’s Hector Moralez, washed in spooked voices and radioactive jock-straps coming round the mountain. Two Deep are Louis and Rick ‘Middleman’ Nicholls, who have already appeared on FlatpackTraxx, Gourmand and Digifunk, loving the vinyl for giving the maximum impact to their Godzilla’s bollocks bassline which underpins sax and organ interplay. Rhythm Plate have already appeared on labels like Lost My Dog and DIY, building a formidable deep house rep. Here YSE from the duo remixes their ‘Tonight’ with deep-fried relish, planting Nesreen’s classy vocal and early 90s Knuckles keyboards over skipping groove and the odd robo-fart.
They’re off to a great start – give ’em your support. Hopefully others will follow.
