Headtunes

The American house label showcases its roster with four artists demonstrating how, in the space of only five previous releases, it’s already achieved a signature sound: subtly-pumping house music which homages classic strains like 70s disco, 80s boogie and 90s dancefloor whoopee. The set kicks off with the cool funky disco throb of Brendan Wesley’s ‘New Age Hookers’, previously released as a Sleazy McQueen digital remix, now in its original spanking form. Pete DaFeet is co-owner of the fabulous Lost My Dog imprint pops up with the undulating deepness of ‘Time Under’ before Carolina-born/Orlando-based Sleazy is represented by his self-explanatory ‘Jus Dance’ and its bass-propelled turbo-shorts [whidch also comes with a digital-only Bobby & Klein remix]. A definite highlight is the closing ‘Brothers 4 Real’ by Michael Eigenheer, aka Replika, who plants lush, melodic swirls over lowdown house-throbbing to hypnotic effect. Definitely a label to watch.
