Wallflower – Say You Won’t Ever – (DFTD)

It’s summer time indeed and here is your new best friend. This sublime partnership between British djs Alison Marks and Lea Floyeurs is like the sort of hazy, shimmery sunshine that quickly heats the skin to burning point and bronzes you on a whisper of a breeze. The original sparse and delicate acoustic version is a chill out / lounge classic to be that will have fans of Lana Del Rey, Lilly Wood and the Prick, London Grammar drooling like puppies and bewitched by its folky / bluesy spell. Step up Deetron, with an effervand Fescent builder that tickles your nose with its ice cold bubbles. His T-Line version is all about the looped and razor sharp vocal snippet edits and a bassline that dives so deeply and breathes so hard and heavy that you’re gasping for air by the end. The Asadinho main mix is a low slung, dirty funk affair surely possessed by the spirit of George Clinton and that’s the measure of it. Marks and Floyeurs’ ‘Wallflower’ is certainly no shrinking violet : it’s a WOW record that I tip it for big summer plays and another high quality release from DFTD those purveyors of fine house music.
