Taken from Will Sauls debut LP, ‘Space Between’ gives a fair indication of the feller’s production mindset. The honeyed, seductive tones of Ms Rucker never fail to hit the spot missus, with Will the latest eager beaver in a lengthy line of producers to bend her vowels to suit. A1’a ‘Tic Toc’ is a classy, respectful dub workout that does as it should without breaking any new ground, while ‘Speak and Spell’s relaxed Detroit leanings does summer jazzy without wanky noodles by numbers. Swayzak’s refit of ‘TicToc’ goes darkly into 240 Volts territory, a Tubby-esque delve into pots and pans FX twisting with a mucky, clicky mindset. The LP should be worth seeking out on this showing.
