It’s great to see X-Press 2’s ‘Muzik Xpress’, one of thee Junior Boy’s Own classics, doing the rounds again. The disco bassline, rattling percussion, soaring strings and vocal samples still work an absolute treat, sending the floor into a heaving sexy bundle of fun that’s hell bent on getting even higher. Nic Fanciulli and Andy Chatterly deliver the 2008 remix under their Skylark banner, going on a back in the day Detroit route, sparsely building with old school stabs, hissing hats and sharp claps, that leads up to the introduction of low end rhythms and a blow your socks off breakdown. The reason behind this re-release is ‘Raise Your Hands’, X-Press 2’s greatest hits. So on that note I’d like to propose a toast, ‘To Rocky, Diesel & Ashley for a job well done, and the welcome return of the ecstasy anthem.
