From the Stockholm basement of Dave Young, who’s already remixed for Dave Seaman’s Audio Therapy amidst TV-film jobs, emanates a pretty arresting deep house debut for the Universal Vibes label. ‘Deep Contact’ sets up skewed but warm chords under a melody slightly reminiscent of the Orb’s ‘Oxbow Lakes’. ‘Duh’ mates old school house riffs and eerie melodies which hatch a fairly glorious deep house monster. ‘Fuji’ recalls late 80s New York a la Nu Groove with its glacial riffs and bongo-string combination. ‘The Feeling’ turns into a fantastic sax and piano excursion completing one of those EPs which comes out of the blue and gradually unfolds into a delicious surprise.
