For Jazzanova, remixing is just as big a part of their artistry as making original tracks. They’ve become so well respected at this craft that Sonar Kollektiv have released not one but three compilations showing what they can do – and the most recent is every bit as good. The remix of Spinning Motion’s ‘Naze’ sets the bar high at the start, but it is actually the loping beat of Outlines’ ‘Listen To The Drums’ and the searching vocal of Dawne B on Atjazz’s ‘Parallels’ that make stronger impacts, the latter nicely twinned with some filtered disco-house. The subtle touches of window dressing can often make a track, too, as happens with the xylophone on Malika Ayane’s ‘Dimentica Domani’. Nice to see Joe Bataan in there too, in the extended take on ‘Ordinary Guy’. A self-recommending release for those who’ve bought the others!
