JOEY NEGRO ‘Remixed With Love Vol 3’(Z)

During the early 80s a kid called Dave Lee who calls himself Joey Negro, Doug Willis, Jakatta, Z Factor or Raven Maize amongst other aliases these days, had a dream: One day he wanted to re-edit and mix all the great classic Disco, Funk & Soul records he grew up with. Many years and a long career in Dance music later, this dream became reality and the kid from back then is now regarded as one of the key figures when it comes to the above mentioned sounds. His third offering of the now legendary Remixed With Love series again is done with a lot of love and faith towards the Original records and again Dave Lee has been able to get his hands on long forgotten and hard to find master tapes or multi tracks of classics that cried for a new version. The result is amazing again and has taken Joey Negro several years to finish.
As with previous volumes, Dave Lee has put his own inimitable spin on more than a dozen seminal records. What you get are brand new versions of big, very well known records like Odyssey’s ‘Going Back To My Roots’, Gladys Knight & The Pips ‘Bourgie Bourgie’ or Deniece Williams’ ‘Free’ alongside lesser know jams like Samuel Jonathan Johnson’s ‘You’ or Michael Wycoff’s ‘Looking Up To You’. Further artists featured on this great album are Earth Wind & Fire, Gwen McCrae, Lonnie Liston Smith, The Fatback Band, Patti Labelle and Patrice Rushen to name but a few. The entire album will be available on triple gatefold vinyl and double CD as well as digitally. We all can only hope that the difficulties Dave Lee had on getting his hands on those rare multi tracks in the first place will be blown away by the success of the series. Volume 2 of it was one of the best selling compilations on Traxsource in 2016 and similar things are expected with this outing as it is equally brilliant and a must have for anyone being into Soul, Funk and Disco sounds with a modern touch.
