Kevin over’s ‘Duster’ is one of those so subtle it hurts, cleverly put together records that you wish you’d made every time you play it. You’re not jealous though because the way it reveals its inner workings is a thing of indisputable beauty. The vocal ‘making me feel’ loop stutters its way into the foreground bouncing and tripping on a grating, womping background that shifts like quicksand under your feet. ‘Ode’ takes the sort of break that would make Bernard Purdie smile then layers it with synths that chomp through the arrangement leaving teeth marks behind. Play them loud to get the full benefit.
