The version of ‘Nightclubbing’ you always wanted. A funky danceable groove with that classy downtempo disco swing – a quality production worthy of Chic or Rocky Music, with alternative ‘Grace Jones style’ vocals pinning down the hypnotic melody line. Juan Laya & Jorge Montiel are on top of their game under their parallel alias Funky Magnetic, collaborating here with super soul brother guitarist and singer Del Blake.
The Italo Remix goes for it, instantly feeling like a Balearic classic with a minimal raw electronic groove, stripped-back synths, edgy taut backdrop, peppered with a low-slung guitar funk that smoulders with dance floor appeal. Its early synth sound energy has oodles of swag and is an excellent intro for those coming to this classic for the first time. The Remix is a more electronic workout, laced with heavy funk grooves and jittery keyboard stabs that mesmerise with its spacey dance floor attitude. Rolling out in the ’80s infused looser funk fusion style is the Neo Funk Remix with its boop boop boop sounds and get-down guitar groove that strips things down to feature Del’s distinctive rapped verse.
