There’s only a handful of people I know, who haven’t put out any poor records to date. Paolo Vecchiato aka Paul Older is such a guy, he simply oozes quality. If you love your sounds funky and Disco tasty, you surely are aware of him. If you don’t he still might be something for you-because of the above said ;).
Nevertheless, his new EP on The Funk Districts Furious Mandrill Cuts label is one of his best efforts ever. First track ‘Monkey Funkey’ is a brass heavy, string infused Disco track with top beats and bass. ‘Los Caramelos’ is a bit more flamenco-esque, but still a very funky affair, whilst ‘Mais’ is a Brazilian Funk influenced party groover. The package is rounded off by the amazing ‘Akisakisana’, a percussive belter with a very well known, memorable hook that takes the EP to a higher level. Disco as it should sound like.
