Fellow Sound Judgement reviewers, Bristol club promoters-come-DJs and pretty prolific men in the studio – Deepgroove’s Grayson Shipley and Lee Pattison are pretty prolific to put it mildly. Enjoying most success in the studio, their uniquely funky style of house fused with acid, progressive, twisted or tribal reference points has helped to prevent them from becoming pigeonholed, while at the same offering them the opportunity to be able to record for a handful of labels at varying ends of the musical scale without ever sounding out of place. For UMM it’s a mixture of acid reference points, stark vocals instructing us to take it louder and drum rolls that Robbie Rivera would be proud to call his own. Big room action assured.
