Mr Sam has long been one of the pillars of the Belgian prog/trance scene, bringing strong Classical accents to lyrical melodies of the euro kind. He’s about to release a remix album of his ‘Lyteo’ LP from last year (re-rubs from heavyweights Rank 1 and whole bunch of new blood). On next single ‘Split’ Egypt’s Aly & Fila turn out a Paul Van Dyk-sounding orchestral rendition, T4L delivers a Green Martian stormer full of techno drama combined with a deep nostalgic breakdown, whilst Jonas Steur goes for a fast-paced melodic tip (now that’s a package). Yet Mr Sam’s interpretation steals the show effortlessly, Kirsty Hawkshaw’s ethereal vocals taking another dimension in this naïve euro anthem with classic chord progression.
