James Holden’s label is quickly establishing itself as the new stable of indie/electro-flavoured progressive. Aimed at DJs and yet unwilling to conform to set formulas, Border Community manages to rally anoraks, e-heads and art students at once. Deconstructed and spontaneous, this is a sound which borrows as much to My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth than to Moroder and Kraftwerk. On this quirky Xmas cover, Fake sounds of course like the gifted child he is: pure and imaginative.
