France’s Tanzibass is a self-taught bass-player who cut his teeth in funk bands but a few years ago started making his own electronic-based music, of which ‘Damage’ is first taste. When it first appeared online, Guillaume ‘The Supermen Lovers’ Atlan was impressed enough to snarf him up for his Lafresse label. It’s an impressive debut, built on a house beat lashed with snarling riffs, nasty guitar and noise-with-attitude. The Supermen Lovers remix adds funky disco elements and more floor-friendly immediacy.
