Rework are the German production duo Daniel Varga and Michael Kuebler, and their music is a brilliant blend of style and substance, bringing together some healthy influences from New York disco and 1980s electronic music but stamping a personal identity on it too. Tracks like ‘Heat’ and ‘Baby Disco’ provide smoky and slinky dancefloor moments of pure escapism, with some really good production, while the low slung beats of ‘And It’s Fun’ operate at almost half the pace but are darkly sensual. Rework are one of those teams that can make a little go an awfully long way, and what feels like a minimal approach on ‘Should We’ becomes a great house track you just want to hear again. The versatility of the duo means the album format is perfect for them, and because of that ‘Heat’ captures the ebb and flow of a night underground. Well worth your time.
