Seb Skalski ‘Set Me Free Album’ (PURPLE MUSIC)

Not too many albums get the lowdown on these pages, but from time to time you have to do an exception to the rule, especially when the quality of the product cries for a decent review. Polish maestro Seb Skalski delivers his first artist album on Jamie Lewis’ Purple Music label and what you get are 12 soulful, funky as Mexican Chilli House songs. I say songs because they are songs indeed. With one exception each of the offerings come with an international vocal from the crème de la crème of House music’s vocalists like Donna Hidalgo, LT Brown, Michelle Weeks, Donald Sheffey or Fred Triplett. What you can clearly hear in all those tracks, are two facts: firstly the man truly understands Soulful House and therefore is able to create an emotional vibe all over all album tunes and secondly I bet he has taken some time to finish off the longplayer. Time is an essential good these days, not many producers are consuming it and that’s what you can hear so often. The sounds, the mastering and all instruments are amazingly set up and put together here, which together with the above mentioned brilliant vocal performances make this record an essential item for any House Music lover. I hope many will buy it because otherwise we won’t see many products of that quality in the future.
