Steve Bug  ‘Alto Adige’ (POKER FLAT)

Steve Bug is a real House hero for me-and that’s for quite some time. The guy from Berlin is able to deliver House Music like it was composed back in the day, very pure, energetic and reduced. His ‘Let It Go’ track on Nu Groove from last year, is a track that easily could have been produced 30 years ago. So respect is all due to this man and also his Poker Flat label, on which he comes back for his latest ‘Alto Adige’ two tracker. Of course Bug has a prolific release and remix schedule all over, but it’s always nice to be home, isn’t it?

Title track ‘Alto Adige’ is a patient slow-burner, kicking off with a muted synth line that gradually opens up as the track progresses, building to a deeply satisfying crescendo in the break.

‘Trentino’, which must me my personal pick of the two, is similarly minded, with the addition of rising strings and a beautifully epic synth lead adding even more drama to proceedings. Probably both a little more on the progressive House side, but still very worth a check!
