Moody B launches his new Northern Ireland-based label with a beautiful display of old school knowledge and passion. ‘Like That Flava’ whips up a prowling Master C&J-style bassline with moody chords and strings shadowed by sinister bloke intoning. Would have felt at home on in the late 80s on Chicago’s State Street Records. The Mad Mix of ‘Burn ‘Em Down’ ignites clicking percussive clatter and woozy backdrop to be joined by Frankie Le Freak’s sonorous vocal, before the Lesser Spotted Mad Mix takes a deeper, acid sci-fi route. If this is anything to go by, this will be a label for true house believers to pursue like jacking rats up a drainpipe.
