Various Artists ‘Defected presents House Masters Jazz ‘N’ Groove’ (DEFECTED)

Oh what can I say about JNG? Brian Tappert and Marc Pomeroy have inspired not only myself but numerous then young producers in the 90s to start the game as they were and are an instance in Soulful House, had a very unique, memorable style and did records that will be considered classics until this world will collapse. There are some old photos of me and my mates from Whipped Creem in the late 90s at WMC Miami where we got together with Brian and Marc, two lovely down to earth guys who were very respect-and helpful towards us youngsters-something that should be mentioned as well. So I guess I’m not the only very happy man to realise, that Defected have not only picked up the Soulfuric back catalogue for future releases, but also decided to put out a collection of JNG classics.
Defected’s first ever single in fact was Soulsearcher’s UK Top 10 hit ‘Can’t Get Enough’, and the label’s relationship with the duo now comes full circle as Jazz-N-Groove join the ranks of House Masters. ‘Defected presents House Masters – Jazz-N-Groove’ is set to be released as a double CD, along with a giant digital release boasting no less than 30 essential cuts from their impressive repertoire. Marc Pomeroy’s ‘Can’t Get Enough’ is naturally included, along with Brian & Marc’s first co-production Urban Blues Project ‘Deliver Me’ – a firm favourite of Godfather of House Frankie Knuckles – such bonafide house classics as Cleptomaniacs ‘All I Do’ and Moné ‘We Can Make It’ (made with Roy Grant), plus stellar remixes for Loleatta Holloway, Donna Allen, Louie Vega and Shakedown. We all know it could easily have been a 3CD collection, but nevertheless this is heavenly and shows the wide spectrum of Jazz’N’Groove’s productions which hopefully will find new listeners via this output! I lift my cup!
