Various Artists ‘Disco Made Me Do It’ (MIDNIGHT RIOT)

Disco has been called dead probably a hundred times before but for me it is alive & kickin’ as ever and surprisingly to myself who is spinning this kind of music for more than 20 years it still keeps coming back with new and impressive outings even today. At the forefront of the new disco movement certainly one label has to be mentioned, Andy Williams’ Midnight Riot stable, which is delivering the goods nearly on a weekly basis. Now as we head towards the end of summer, it releases a blinding compilation of cheeky edits alongside polished Nu Disco jams which is not to be missed. ‘Disco Made Me Do It’ contains of no less than 17 tracks from masters of the scene such as Babert, Full Intention, Danny Kane, Dr Packer, John Morales, Ed Wizard, Birdee or Alan Dixon to name but a few. Of course label boss Yam Who? is included too-with a top quality remix for Jack Tyson Charles’ ‘Best Friend’ as Qwestlife plus his re-rubs for the previously released Moussa Clarke track ‘Still Feel The Rain’ and the track of the comp, Dubplate Disco’s ‘Pick Up’ which uses Melba Moore’s ‘Pick Me Up I’ll Dance’ to perfection. That track also seems to be on limited edition vinyl so grab the goods while you can!
